Psychology & Psychotherapy

We don’t solve our problems as much as we outgrow them

- Jung

About

Hi, I’m Julia, a psychologist and psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience in both private and public health.

We all face overwhelming, unbelievable, and unbearable experiences that mark us in complex ways. To cope, we rely on strategies developed when we were young that don’t serve us so well now. We might feel anxious all the time, or feel like we are stuck repeating the same old bad habits.  I can help free you from the constraints of past experiences so that you feel more alive in the present moment, and feel ease and joy in your relationships.

I work with adults across a range of difficulties inherent to the human experience: relationship problems, navigating change and transition, grief and loss, stress related to work, parenting, and illness. I also treat a range of disorders related to trauma, anxiety and burnout, depression, and emotion regulation.

The perinatal period, in particular, is a beautiful time, yet the demands of modern life can make it feel exhausting, alienating and empty. I specialise in supporting parents to navigate experiences such as birth trauma, transition to parenthood, and perinatal anxiety, depression and OCD.

I will integrate the innovative training I have completed to tailor therapy to you. More technically, I have trained in and regularly use approaches such as psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindfulness-based therapies, attachment-based therapy including Circle of Security, EMDR, and mentalisation-based treatment.

I currently hold a position in perinatal clinical psychology at the Royal Women’s Hospital.

My qualifications: BASc(Psych)(Hons). MPsych (Clinical).
